All of the rumours seem to come from an interview with series creator Laeta Kalogridis in 2018. Some people on the deepest parts of the internet think that Zazie Beetz, who played the Joker and Deadpool 2’s Vanessa, could be cast as the next Takeshi Kovacs sleeve.
There will be new characters in Season 3 of Altered Carbon, maybe even a new Takeshi Kovacs. It’s not clear if Dichen Lachman, who plays Reileen Kawahara, Kovacs’ sister, will come back. Chris Conner, who plays Poe, Renée Elise Goldsberry, who plays Quellcrist Falconer, Simone Missick, who plays bounty hunter Trepp, and Dina Shihabi, who plays Dig 301, are also expected to return.
Will Yun Lee, who plays “Kovacs Prime,” is expected to return for season 3 as the other Takeshi Kovacs. Also, the actor told The Hollywood Reporter that he isn’t ready to leave Altered Carbon: “I hope to be able to bring Kovacs back next season. There may be flashbacks, though, in which Mackie shows up. Since Mackie took over for Joel Kinnaman after the first season, it’s unlikely that the writers will let him come back if they keep rewriting each season. Everyone hopes that Anthony Mackie, who played Kovacs in the second season of Altered Carbon, will be back for the third season.
